Affinity Alternative for Solo Deal Makers: What to Use Instead

Affinity starts at $2,000 per user a year and is built for firms. Here is what a solo searcher, broker or super connector can use instead, with verified prices.

By Brett Kaufman. 8 years using relationships to build sales pipelines, from political fundraising to a 7 figure business to running matchmaking for two communities. Over 1,000 introductions facilitated.

The best Affinity alternative for a solo deal maker depends on what you liked about Affinity. If you want the automatic email and calendar capture, Attio’s free plan or folk gets you close for far less. If what you really want is to know who to reach out to today, FRONT OF MIND does that for $29 a month.

Full disclosure: I built FRONT OF MIND. So I will be straight about where each tool wins, including Affinity.

Here is the scene. You sat through an Affinity demo. You saw it pull every email and meeting into one record, score how warm each relationship is, and flag the ones going quiet. You wanted it. Then you saw the price: $2,000 per user a year, billed annually, for a platform designed around a firm. You are one person. A searcher in month eight, an independent sponsor, a broker with a buyer list, a connector who makes intros for a living.

You do not need a firm platform. You need the part that makes deals happen.

What Affinity actually is

Affinity positions itself as an AI CRM for private capital. Its homepage describes automatic capture of email, meeting and calendar activity across your whole firm. It also scores relationship strength from real communication, finds the warm path to the person who makes the decision, and flags relationships that are going quiet before they cost you a deal.

It is built for private equity, venture capital, private credit, investment banking, family offices and similar firms. The key word in all of that copy is firm. The value compounds when ten partners and associates share one network and anyone can see who knows the founder best.

What Affinity costs

Per Affinity’s pricing page, as of October 2026, it is priced per user per year and billed annually:

  • Essential, $2,000 per user a year: automatic activity capture from email and calendar, relationship scoring, interaction history and deal pipeline tracking.
  • Scale, $2,300 per user a year: adds a notetaker, AI chat, agents, an MCP server, inferred network connections, mobile and the Chrome extension.
  • Advanced, $2,700 per user a year: adds enrichment from PitchBook, Dealroom and Crunchbase, plus workflow automations.
  • Enterprise: custom pricing, with fund level permissions and SSO.

The page lists no free trial, no monthly billing and no individual plan. You contact sales.

What Affinity does better

Be honest about this before you switch. I would be.

  • Firm wide relationship intelligence. If you have a team, nothing on this list maps who on your side knows whom as well as a platform built for exactly that.
  • Relationship scoring at scale. Affinity says its scoring draws on data across 3,300+ private capital firms. A solo tool will not match that.
  • Data enrichment. Advanced plugs in PitchBook, Dealroom and Crunchbase. If you live inside those sources, that matters.
  • Compliance and permissions. Fund level permissions and SSO are firm problems, and Affinity solves them.

If you are building a team, or your investors already run Affinity and want you on it, stay. This page is for the person working alone.

Attio

What it is. A flexible CRM that pitches itself as a CRM built for AI agents and revenue teams. You design your own objects, so you can model owners, brokers and target companies separately.

Cost. Per Attio’s pricing page: Free for up to 3 seats, Plus at $35 a seat a month billed annually or $44 monthly, Pro at $79 annually or $99 monthly, and custom Enterprise. The comparison table lists email and calendar sync, one account per user, on Free and Plus.

Closest to Affinity on. Automatic capture of email and calendar into a real record, with a pipeline.

Where it strains. Flexibility means setup. You build the structure and keep it fed. It is designed for revenue teams, so a solo operator may spend a weekend removing what they do not need.

folk

What it is. folk pitches itself as an AI CRM for the whole sales process. It pulls contacts from LinkedIn with a Chrome extension and adds enrichment, pipelines, sequences and AI drafted follow ups.

Cost. Per folk’s pricing page: Standard at $24 per member a month billed annually or $30 monthly, Premium at $48 annually or $60 monthly, and Enterprise from $80 annually or $100 monthly. Email, calendar and WhatsApp sync are included on every plan. There is a 2 week free trial with no credit card.

Closest to Affinity on. Shared contacts and a pipeline at a small team price, if you have a partner.

Where it strains. It is built for outbound sales. If you mostly need to remember people and reach them at the right moment, you may pay for sequences you never run.

Dex

What it is. A personal CRM that syncs LinkedIn, email and calendar, with notes, tags and keep in touch reminders.

Cost. Per Dex’s pricing page: Premium at $12 a month billed annually or $20 monthly, Professional at $20 annually or $34 monthly, and Team at $40 per user a month. Premium and Professional include email and calendar integrations and a 6 day free trial. There is no free plan.

Closest to Affinity on. One searchable home for everyone you know, with interaction history from your inbox and calendar.

Where it strains. It stores and reminds. There is no deal pipeline, and you still decide who matters this week. I compared it directly in FRONT OF MIND vs Dex.

FRONT OF MIND

What it is. The part of Affinity that a solo operator actually pays for, the flag on what is going quiet, turned into a daily list. I built it because I run matchmaking for two communities and have made over 1,000 introductions, and the hard part was always knowing who to reach today.

It opens on your 10 minutes for today. Each person comes with a one line reason why today: they posted, a follow up is due, you met at an event days ago and never followed up, a pipeline deal has been quiet 7 days or more, their company was in the news, or the relationship is going cold. Posts are only shown if they are confirmed to belong to that person.

Every draft reads like a text, 40 words max. Nothing sends without your tap, and it learns from your edits. Ask Liala, the built in assistant, “who do I know that is an M&A advisor” or “who lives in Miami” and get the right people with why. That is the warm path question, answered for one person instead of a firm. It also surfaces intros to make this week, with dated proof on both sides.

At an event, say a name and a sentence out loud, snap the card or badge, or take a selfie together, and it is filed under the event.

Cost. Free for your first 25 contacts and 1 intro, then $29 a month. Contacts are encrypted. No one on our team looks at them. Export and delete anytime.

Where it strains. It is not a firm platform. No fund level permissions, no PitchBook enrichment, no shared team network map. It is not a stage by stage pipeline or a diligence workspace either. Keep your deal record where it is and run this beside it.

How I would choose

  • You are a team, or your investors require it: stay on Affinity.
  • You want automatic capture and a pipeline you design, for free: Attio.
  • You have a partner and want shared contacts with sequences: folk.
  • You want a clean personal address book with inbox history: Dex.
  • You want to know which broker, owner or advisor to text today, and why: FRONT OF MIND, next to whichever record you keep.

Affinity is worth $2,000 a seat when a firm shares one network. Alone, the value is in the daily nudge, not the database. Start free with your first 25 contacts and see who comes up first.
