FRONT OF MIND vs folk: Which One Moves a Deal Today?

folk runs a team's pipeline, sequences and sync. FRONT OF MIND tells one deal maker who to text today and why. An honest comparison with October 2026 pricing.

By Brett Kaufman. 8 years using relationships to build sales pipelines, from political fundraising to a 7 figure business to running matchmaking for two communities. Over 1,000 introductions facilitated.

folk is the better pick if you run a team pipeline, want automated email sequences, or need your inbox, calendar and WhatsApp synced into one shared CRM. FRONT OF MIND is the better pick if you are one deal maker whose next deal comes from a broker, banker or owner in your phone, and you want to know who to text today and why, in 10 minutes.

Full disclosure: I built FRONT OF MIND. So I will be straight about where folk wins.

Here is the moment you are probably in if you searched this. Say you have 1,100 contacts. A broker you met at a conference last spring just took on a new sell side mandate. You will not hear about it unless he thinks of you first, and he will think of whoever he heard from last. The question is not where to store him. It is whether anything puts his name in front of you this week.

The short answer

folk calls itself “the AI CRM for your entire sales motion.” It is a modern, clean CRM for teams: pipelines, contact enrichment, email and messaging sequences, a LinkedIn extension called folkX, call recording, and AI assistants that handle groundwork like task creation. Its homepage pitches it as one tool that replaces several others in a sales stack. (folk homepage)

FRONT OF MIND opens every morning on your 10 minutes for today. Each person has a one line reason why today: they posted, it is their birthday, you met at an event 12 days ago and never followed up, a pipeline deal has been quiet 7+ days, their company was in the news, or they are going cold. Each comes with a draft you edit and send.

One is a system of record. The other is a daily decision.

What folk does better

I want this to be fair, so here is where folk wins plainly.

  • Team pipelines. folk is built for many people working one pipeline together, with workspace roles, dashboards and group permissions on higher plans. If you run a search fund with a partner, a brokerage with associates, or a deal team that hands off relationships, folk gives everyone the same view. FRONT OF MIND is not a shared deal pipeline.
  • Sequences. folk Premium includes email sequences, so you can run a multi step campaign to a list of owners or buyers. FRONT OF MIND does not do this. Nothing sends without your tap, one person at a time.
  • Sync. Every folk plan includes email, calendar and WhatsApp sync and the LinkedIn extension, and folk lists thousands of integrations plus an API. If you want every thread with a contact pulled into one record automatically, folk is deeper here. (folk pricing)
  • Enrichment and AI fields. folk enriches contacts with emails and phone numbers and gives you monthly AI field credits to fill custom columns. That is useful when you are building a target list.

If you need any of those four things, folk is the right tool. Do not let my comparison page talk you out of it.

What FRONT OF MIND does that folk does not

folk gives you a great place to keep your relationships. It still waits for you to open it and decide who matters. That decision is the part that dies at volume. Say you know 800 people and can actively keep up with maybe 50. The rest go quiet, not from neglect, but because nothing tells you which of them is worth a text today.

I built FRONT OF MIND for that one job. After 1,000+ introductions across two communities, storing people was never my hard part. Knowing who to reach today was.

  • It picks the people. You open it to a short list, not a database. Every name has the reason it is on the list this morning.
  • It writes like a text, not a campaign. Every draft is 40 words max, written the way you would text a broker you know. Nothing sends without your tap, and it learns from your edits so the next draft sounds more like you.
  • It only shows real signals. A post is only shown if it is confirmed to belong to that person. You will not congratulate a banker on someone else’s promotion.
  • It captures in seconds. At an event, say a name and a sentence out loud, snap a business card or badge, or take a selfie together. It is filed under that event, so the 48 hours after are already sorted.
  • You can ask your network a question. Ask Liala out loud, “who do I know that is an M&A advisor” or “who lives in Miami,” and get the right people with the reason why.
  • It finds intros worth making. Intros to make this week come with dated proof on both sides, so you are connecting two people for a reason that is current.

The difference shows up on a busy Tuesday. In a CRM you scroll. In FRONT OF MIND you send three texts and get back to diligence. It runs in your phone’s browser, and you can save it to your home screen.

Pricing side by side

As of October 2026, from the folk pricing page:

folk (per member, per month)

  • Standard: $24 billed annually, $30 billed monthly. Pipelines, enrichment, AI assistants, email, calendar and WhatsApp sync, LinkedIn extension, email campaigns. Automated sequences are on Premium.
  • Premium: $48 billed annually, $60 billed monthly. Adds email sequences, custom objects and deals, dashboards, roles and API access.
  • Enterprise: $80 billed annually, $100 billed monthly. Custom limits, security controls, dedicated account manager.
  • 2 week free trial with Premium features, no credit card. No free plan.

FRONT OF MIND

  • $29 a month
  • Free for your first 25 contacts and 1 intro
  • Concierge setup: $500 one time
  • If FRONT OF MIND doesn’t surface people in your network worth reaching out to within 72 hours, we’ll refund you. No questions asked.

Note the math for a team. folk is priced per member, so a three person deal team on Premium monthly is $180 a month. For a solo operator who wants sequences, folk Premium is $60 a month. Prices change, so check each pricing page before you buy.

Can you use both?

Yes. Here is how I would split it. Keep live deals, stages and team handoffs in folk. Use FRONT OF MIND for the people who are not in any pipeline yet: the broker who has not called in five months, the CPA whose client is thinking about retiring, the banker who just changed firms. Those are the relationships your next off market deal comes from, and they rarely live in a deal stage.

How I would choose

Pick folk if you run a team, want automated email sequences, or want every inbox, calendar and WhatsApp thread synced into one shared CRM.

Pick FRONT OF MIND if your income depends on who calls you first, and you want to open your phone each morning to the few people worth texting today, why, and a draft that sounds like you.
